WWI U.S. MARINE CORPS COLT .45 CALIBER SERVICE REVOLVER PISTOL EXPERT BADGE

This is an extremely fine World War I U.S. Marine Corps .45 Caliber Service Revolver Pistol Expert badge that is in excellent condition. It features a pair of crossed Model 1917 .45 caliber service revolvers separately affixed to the laurel leaf wreath. It is well-struck and exhibits fine detail to the top bar, Colt marked revolvers, and laurel leaves. Although unmarked as such, it appears to be constructed of sterling silver. It is manufactured by the A.E. Co, Utica, NY and so marked on the reverse of the top bar. The reverse is with functional swing pin and open catch assemblies that are fully functional. The badge is with a very hansom patina to both sides and remains in excellent condition. A seldom encountered Marine Corps insignia that remains in excellent condition.
