A very fine and handsome woolwork embroidered Marine Corps souvenir from a cruise aboard US Troopship. George H. Thomas, named for the Civil War, “Rock of Chickamauga.” The embroidery surrounds two photos: one a photo of the US Marine Sergeant who commissioned the piece, the other of the USAT Thomas itself. Flanking the photos are 8 flags: US, Royal Navy, Greece, Japan, Imperial China, Germany, Chile, and one other. Below the flags are the words, “Hawaii” and “Japan.” At the top of the piece is a beautifully embroidered US Eagle. It is in a beautifully carved and glazed frame.
