ORIG 1942 CHALKWARE SOLDIER FIGURINE "I KEEP WATCH & NEVER NAP" LULZ CREATIONS

Description

This is an original 1942-dated chalk ware figurine of a US Army soldier, complete with its original tag that has on it a patriotic war-effort message. The figurine consists of a small (about 4 1/4 inches tall and 2 inches wide) stature of a soldier, wearing an enlisted man's visor cap, an OD service tunic, a necktie, and khaki pants. The figure has blonde hair and is standing with arms crossed and head slightly tilted. An attached tag, tied to the figurine with red, white, and blue threads, expresses a wartime message from 1942:  "I stand guard, And never nap, To keep you safe, From Nazi and Jap." Below this the tag reads "Your LULLIPUTIAN, Copyright 1942." Opposite side reads: "LULL Creations, Des Moines, Iowa." Bottom of the figurine has a stamp, "Copyright ..." and some other letters or numbers, but I cannot make out what it reads. *********** The figurine is in new old stock condition, with some age related wear and flaking of the plaster, specifically along the top edge of the back of the hat, and on the back of the trousers. The tag shows age toning and some creases and is a bit brittle. As I was photographing, a small corner of the tag detached.
