    C4000XG is CenturyLink Fiberoptic Modem (Fiber GPON).   You must have a CenturyLink Fiber (GPON) service for this modem to work.  If you have a DSL connection then you are needing to purchase the LG series (C4000LG).  If you are looking for a Bonded modem, then you will need to source BG series (C4000BG).  Unfortunately all three modems look identically alike  (like an  air freshener) from the front. Please make sure you purchase the right one.
